Jimmy carter
Jimmy Carter grew up on a farm with his parents in the late 20s and early 30s. He lived on a farm in Plains, Ga that had lots of tenant farmers living on it. In his book "An Hour Before Daylight" he mentions the struggles of tenants and his childhood growing up with them. He talks about the low salary and the constant cycle of poverty they went through. Throughout the book he also talks about the segregation of whites and blacks and his friendships with the black children on the farm.
